Ok, We have been debating a recession buster wedding package...

Jeannie and I have been debating creating a recession buster-wedding package. We know that the area has been hit super hard with layoffs and money is very tight. So tonight, we sat down and hashed out what we consider a very fair package for a recession buster. Therefore, here goes....

Recession Buster Package

- Option 1 -
Option 1 consists of two hours of coverage occurring immediately before your ceremony. If your wedding starts at 1 p.m., we will start photos at 10:30 a.m. These two hours are yours to use. If you want formals of only you and your fiancé, then that is what we will focus on. We can go to a park, indoors and outdoors. The two hours are your time. When the two hours are done, we leave and let you enjoy the rest of your day.

This option will give you fantastic images of which to remember your wedding day. Your images will be hosted on http://www.isphoto.zenfolio.com/ for two years for you, your friends and your families to order prints. With your package will be included 100 custom 4x6 thank-you postcards with an image (of our choice) from your wedding. The postcard will direct your friends and family to the hosting site for ordering images so you do not have to worry about ordering for everyone.
This option does not include ceremony coverage.

-Option 2-
Option 2 consists of two hours of coverage. One hour dedicated to your ceremony and one hour of formals dedicated specifically to you and your fiancé and wedding party. If your wedding starts at 1 p.m., we will start the formal photos at 11:30 a.m. finishing with the formals 30 minutes before your ceremony starts, and capture your ceremony. The hour for formals is yours to use how you wish. If you want formals of only you and your fiancé, then that is what we will focus on. We can go to a park, indoors and outdoors. The two hours are your time. When the ceremony is finished, we will leave you to enjoy your day.

Option 2 will give you fantastic images to remember your day by including your wedding ceremony. Your images will be hosted on http://www.isphoto.zenfolio.com/ for two years for you, your friends and your families to order images. With your package will be included 100 custom 4x6 thank-you postcards with an image (of our choice) from your wedding. The postcards will direct your friends and family to the hosting site for ordering so you do not have to worry about ordering for everyone.

The catches...
(You knew there had to be some right.)
  • There will be no additional time available for purchase with this package. If you want more coverage of your day then you need to book the basic package.
  • This package does not include engagement portraits, nor does it include a proof book.
This option is for the bride and groom who want amazing portraits of their day, but they do not want or need all day coverage.
  • With the typical basic package, you will receive more than 400 images from your day. We are expecting that with the recession buster package you will receive in the range of 150, it could be a few more it could be a few less depending on how fast we are able to change posses and locations, and how ready people are to be photographed.
  • With this package, there will be no discounts on Ala Carte items and it is not eligible for the bridal fair special.
  • This package is NON-transferable and can end at anytime. We are limiting booking of the recession buster to only 10 weddings in 2009. It is not eligible for 2010 weddings. If you are interested in this package, you need to call and speak with us as soon as possible.
  • With this package, travel costs will be strictly enforced.

Thanks for reading through this and we hope to hear from you soon.

An apology... and the Grooms

I first want to apologize to the area brides, grooms, and yes parents too, that I was unable to attend the Yankton Bridal Fair on Sunday. I had a prior commitment and was not able to reschedule it. I sincerely, apologize that I was not able to be there and show you in person the amazing products and services that IS Photo offers you for your wedding day coverage.

I also wanted to let it be known that I am still offering a bridal show special even though I was not able to be there and that those brides and grooms who contact me and ask about it will receive a great gift…BUT, you have to call and ask. (whoever just mumbled, what is her phone number? I heard you ;-) 605-940-9040)

I also wanted to comment on the groom’s photos… It seems to me that they deserve a post of images of just there own.. I mean ladies after all, without them there would be no wedding right?
I hope everyone is enjoying my attempts to keep the blog more current and look forward to hearing from you.

Keep checking in as I will post any news here....

Today's ramblings... Recession?

Well let me start by saying, since this is a more detail oriented post, I decided to post a few of my favorite 'detail' shots from past weddings. Enjoy...

It has happened again, another area company has released several workers today. I can’t say which company yet because of confidentiality issues, but it got me thinking… (I heard that groan….) I know that the recession is starting to hit our area quite hard I think I have heard of four or five companies laying off employees…but, I also know that there are still people going gang busters.

I just wanted to put this out there… If you are planning a wedding this year and are in a situation where money is tight and you are trying to cut corners, please contact me and ask me to work something out for you.. Trust me, I understand. The last place you want to eliminate is from your wedding portraits… once your day is over all you will have is the images from your Wedding and the memories.
I would be more than happy, honored actually, to work with you,

I also wanted to announce that as a way to save on costs - which help me keep my prices lower - I am no longer going to be renting a studio space. We have loved being in the Rupiper travel building over the last two years, but with our main focus being weddings, we really were not making the studio pay for itself. This caused me to have to pass those costs on to my wedding customers.

For engagement, family and senior sessions, we will still be doing outside portraits. I am also going to offer a new option of doing a custom sitting in your home. I would love to visit with you about these changes, so please don’t be afraid to ask questions.
This was not a decision that I made easily, but in the long run, I know it is the right choice.

This summers wedding dates are filling up, so if you are one of those potential couples who have been putting off getting your contracts back to me (yes, there are more than one of you right now ;) )… please don’t wait too long…remember your date isn’t yours until I have your signed contract returned….

Thanks for checking in….

So, I found one of my pictures in Texas....

As most of you know, in my ‘other’ life I am a reporter for the Press and Dakotan here in Yankton, SD.

Recently, for our weekly Rivercity section I did a story on Bald Eagles in the area. I also had the fun job of going out and capturing some images to use for the paper. Well, it was a riot and not something I typically get the time to do.

So, last night I was out searching on the web and guess what I found? That image had been picked up by a Dallas/Fort Worth Texas site (and a Kansas City one, too.)

I don’t typically post about P&D stuff here but I thought that was exciting.

If you want to see the story and image click the title of this post... if you want to see the other images I captured from the day go to http://spotted.yankton.net/galleries/index.php?id=347358

As always, keep checking back,

Abby and Jesse's Wedding

I had the pleasure of photographing Abby and Jesse Round's wedding on December 27, 2008 in Iroqois, SD. Abby, a good friend of mine from my Dakota State days, and Jesse a neighbor even though I didn't know it at the time, were a ton of fun.

I hope you enjoy their images and as always if you click on the title of the post it will take you to the entire gallery of the wedding.

Enjoy,

Shauna
